The Turkish team left Kazakhstan with a remarkable result.
Aurora won third place at PGL Astana after a 2-1 victory over Furia's new squad in the third match. Despite being led in advance after losing Anubis map, Turkish team came back strongly and won overwhelming victory in Inferno and Dust2.
"We were unable to join in the beginning of the match," özgür "woxic" Eker shared with James "Banks" Banks after the match. "They were very good to call the battle. We couldn't punish them, so the score was 8-0. Finally, we could return to it. If you start badly, you deserve to lose."
Although not achieving the goal of reaching the final, Aurora still has many positive things drawn from the tournament. The earthquake and the holiday plan have affected the preparation process for the tournament in Astana, but the team has gradually improved through each match and terminated the chain eliminated early in the playoff round.
"Obviously, we want to go to the final when coming here," Woxic said. "But we started extremely badly. Looking at the first two matches, reaching the semi -finals was a very good result. If we started badly, we could still return. If we did not lose to Astralis, we would have won the championship. But unfortunately the team played better."
There is no time to rest - Iem Dallas is waiting
Both Aurora and Furia will not have time to rest or edit tactics, when they have to move to the US in less than 10 hours to attend IEM Dallas, where there will be a more fierce rival.
Summary of the match
Map 1 - Ancient:
Furia started to storm with 8-0 chain, piercing Aurora defense. With the help of Engin "maj3r" Küpeli, Aurora removed the gauze before the end of the first half. Maj3R continued to shine in the second half with an important 1v1 clutch phase. Aurora leveled 10-10 after a series of 7 rounds, but Furia countered with three rounds-including a 4K phase of Molodoy, causing Astana audience to explode.
Map 2 - Inferno:
Aurora shows a completely different face, leading 10-2 with a solid defense. Although Fallen had three networks in Round Pistol and Yekindar Clutch later, Furia could not keep the game. Woxic and Wicadia led Aurora with a total of 18 networks in the first half.
Map 3 - Dust2:
Aurora continued to overwhelm like in Inferno, only for Furia to win 4 rooms in the first half. Although Furia tried to counterattack in the second half, they failed to transform the second round. Wicadia ended the opponent's desirable comeback series with a decisive clutch phase.
Furia - The future is still open
Despite failure, Furia still has many bright spots. The team came to Astana and many question marks when the first "internationalization" of the squad, brought in two names that no one expected - one of them almost no one knew.
Molodoy is an impressive name in Astana (although he still suspected whether he could maintain his style when other teams started analyzing the gameplay).
Yekindar also showed ecstatic moments.
Fallen, despite being old, still played well with Rifle, ending the tournament with 0.96 rating - a respectable number.
This is only the second time Furia in the semi -finals of a Big Event for more than two years, and although many strong teams are absent in Astana, this is still a significant step for the Brazilian team.
